Tanya Gale Velardo

If I had to choose one word to describe the type of work I've done over my 23-year career, I would use the word development. I'm committed to strategic planning and trusting God for the big picture that is still years ahead. What a joy when you watch it come to life! With depth and breadth of life experiences, creativity, ingenuity, intentionality, and personalization, there are ministries to build that have the power to change the trajectory of lives and communities. What development opportunities has my career given me?

 

• 10+ years developing prayer and financial partners for ministry in 80+ countries.

• 6,000 square feet of children's ministry space design in a new church building.

• Redesigning children's ministry in an established church.

• Equipping sales professionals with client development skills & best customer service practices.

• Client development as a Sales Professional for two luxury retailers.

• Creating the Family Ministry Diploma program at the New York School of the Bible.

• Developed a Gospel-centered and diverse family ministry at an NYC church plant. Started with children's ministry but strategically led towards Student Ministry programming. We now have a ministry for kids from Birth-Grade 12.

 

There are three keywords that drive what and how I lead. Gospel-centered, diversity, and strategy. I grew up in a diverse neighborhood in the city of Boston and currently live in a diverse community in Harlem, NYC. Diversity has been a powerful part of my story. Inner city spaces, suburban neighborhoods, and Eastern European villages have all been communities I've called home. I believe that the church must be a reflection of on earth as it is in Heaven. We must intentionally consider how all voices are a part of and invited into God's Gospel story.

Tanya serves as the Children's Ministry Director at Renaissance Church in Harlem, NYC, and has called Harlem home for the last eight years.
